Daniel
Portugal
Born in Portugal, Daniel (They/Them) holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations and is currently a master’s student in Peace, Security, and Development Studies at the University of Coimbra (Portugal). Being a junior researcher from Portugal, their areas of interest are critical studies, especially queer and feminist studies, on peace and violence, security, democracy, and human rights. As a ReportOUT Human Rights Researcher, they aim to promote, produce, and disseminate knowledge about LGBTQ+ communities and rights, as well as their increasing experiences of vulnerability and forms of resistance. They enjoy listening to music, reading, and watching the sunset and sunrise. Daniel speaks Portuguese (native), English (fluent), Spanish (intermediate), and French (intermediate)

Sam
Nigeria
Born in Nigeria and living in Nigeria. Samuel (He/Him) is an Events Officer at ReportOUT. After spending 3 years working in food processing companies as a factory staff, sales manager and general manager, also three years volunteering as a teacher of languages. Samuel brings a strong creative, problem solving, strategic and tactical training background to ReportOUT. He has a degree in BA (Hons) Linguistics. As well as this, he is also an LGBTQI+ Christian activist and has featured heavily on several social media platforms. Samuel enjoys chess, football, cooking, interpretation work, hiking and culture. He describes himself a gay man and as a cisgender male. He speaks Idoma (native), Hausa (native) English (fluent) and French (beginner)

Connex
Malawi
Born in the warm heart of Africa, Malawi, Connex (He/Him) is a dedicated Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT. With two years of experience as a Grants and Advocacy Officer for Ivy Foundation in Malawi, Connex brings research and advocacy skills set to ReportOUT's mission. He studied Journalism and Media Studies from The University of Malawi - The Polytechnic. Connex is an active human rights activist, having been featured in numerous YouTube podcasts where he passionately discusses issues related to LGBTIQ+ equality and justice. He is a transgender man who finds joy in football, video games, camping and various outdoor activities. Fluent in both English and Chichewa, Connex is committed to creating positive change and amplifying the voices of marginalised communities in Malawi and beyond.

Rocio
Argentina
Born and raised in Argentina, Rocio (She/her) is a Communications Officer at ReportOUT. While pursuing her studies in International Relations, she is passionate about advocating for human rights, and therefore certified in various areas including LGBTQ+ community, child protection, climate change, and gender equality. She describes herself as bisexual and as a cisgender female. She speaks Spanish (native) and English (Advanced).

Kondwani
Malawi
Kondwani (He/Him) is born and raised in Malawi, Kondwani holds a BA in Business Management and a Certificate in HIV Testing and Counselling. He works with Community Health Rights Advocacy (CHeRA), an organization that defends and advocates for the health and rights of the LGBTQA+ community in Malawi. Kondwani has joined ReportOUT as a Human Rights Researcher. He loves reading, enjoys music, and community volunteerism. Kondwani is also an SRHR, health, and Human Rights advocate for the Sexual and Gender Minority community.

Taha
Morrocco
I am Taha (He/Him), Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT, you can call me "Atayist", as I love drinking Moroccan tea "Atay". I hold a bachelor in Sociology with research around cultural globalisation and social media, and how it transforms youth cultures and local cultures in North Morocco. Links between global and local relationships have became my main interest, as well as the resistance to them. I work on research projects with marginalised communities in my region. I am an activist, writer, and a nerd. Books and the world are my favourite topics to discuss.

Izzy

Born in the United Kingdom, Izzy (she/her) is a Media and Communications Officer at ReportOUT. After spending four years reading Russian and Spanish at Durham University, Izzy brings a strong international communications awareness to ReportOUT. Izzy enjoys reading, walking her dogs, and gaming. She describes himself as bisexual and as a cisgender female. She speaks English (native), French (fluent), Spanish (fluent), and Russian (intermediate).

Arnaldo
Brazil
Born and living in Brazil, Arnaldo (He/Him) is a Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT. He has a degree in Law and International Relations, a specialisation in Human Rights Education and is studying an MA in International Relations focusing on Human Rights and the LGBTI+ agenda. As well as this, he is also an LGBTQI+ and human rights activist with history of activism in international institutions defending the rights of the community. Has represented the Brazilian delegation of youth Ambassadors of Internet Governance with the Brazilian Steering Committee of Internet Governance (CGI.BR), bringing the focus on diversity and inclusion of our community on the world wide web. Arnaldo enjoys cinema, gastronomy, music and travelling. He describes himself as homosexual and as a cisgender male, and speaks Portuguese (native), Spanish (fluent) and English (fluent).

Caitlin
United Kingdom
Born in Sunderland, UK, Caitlin (she/her) joined ReportOUT in 2019 as a Human Rights Researcher and is now currently the Lead Volunteer for the Sustainable Development Goals Officers. She has a degree in BSc (Hons) Sociology, MSc in Inequality and Society and a postgraduate degree in education and training. Caitlin has a strong interest in international development and has published on the topic of heteronormativity within Agenda 2030 and how heteronormative discourse can be challenged and resisted to ensure no one is left behind.

Chloe
United Kingdom
Chloe (she/her) is a Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT from Yorkshire, UK. She has a degree in BSc (Hons) Psychology from Durham University and is currently studying an MSc in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, with an interest in the Sustainable Development Goals and the social determinants of health. As well as a ReportOUT volunteer and part-time student, she works in a Public Health team to address the systemic drivers of health inequities and barriers to health care access. In her free time, Chloe enjoys visiting friends, playing hockey, going for walks, and eating nice food.

Riley
USA
Originally born in the USA, Riley (she/her) grew up in Germany and studied at university in the Netherlands and in Brazil. She recently completed her master's degree in Amsterdam where she developed her research skills. Now she lives in London and works for a national charity, and has begun volunteering with ReportOUT as a Human Rights Researcher. She enjoys knitting, cooking, hiking and exploring different cultures through travel.

Ochieng
Kenya
Ochieng is a Human Rights Researcher, and currently the CEO and founder of Ochieng Oginga and Company Advocates practicing law in Kenya, the East African Court of Justice and the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights. He is an author in Constitutional Law, and Human Rights and a Certified Sexual Identities and Gender Minority Rights; Disability Rights; Social, Economic & Cultural Practitioner, certified by the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria South Africa and the University of Nairobi. He is currently a Master of Law Candidate at the University of East London, United Kingdom. Other than being a volunteer at ReportOUT, he is also a pro bono lawyer for the Thompson Reuters TrustLaw Foundation, a pro bono Counsel in the Roster for the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights; and a volunteer pro bono Lawyer for NextGEN Lawyers, Kenya, and Equality Now Organization, Kenya.

Ross
United Kingdom
Ross (He/Him) studied International Development for his undergraduate degree (B.A), followed by a Master's (M.A) in Human Rights, both at the University of Sussex, U.K. He focused on global LGBTQ+ rights throughout both degrees, completing field research in Malawi and Ethiopia respectively. He also won academic awards for both his B.A. and M.A theses. Ross went on to work in the Global LGBTQ+ Rights sector for almost 10 years. This included roles such as Advisor on the Rapid Response Fund at Frontline AIDS (providing emergency support to LGBTQ+ CSOs in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean); Head of Global Programmes at Stonewall; and as Chair of the UK Alliance for Global Equality for three years. However, two years ago he left the sector to follow his love of words and is now a freelance writer. Ross identifies as a cisgender gay man whose passions include travel, history, and hiking (especially when all three are combined :)

Larry
Zambia
Born in Kenya and an asylum seeker in Zambia, Larry (They/Them) is a Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT. After spending five years working as a man in a travel company and also being an entrepreneur, Larry brings management and research skills to ReportOUT. They have a degree in Business Management. Larry loves football, travelling, learning new languages and garnering for the rights of transgender people and the LGBTQIA community at large. They describe themselves as a transgender man. They speak Luhya (native), Swahili (native) and English (fluent)

Winnie
Kenya
Winnie is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, who has for the past five years been living and practicing law in Nairobi, Kenya. Currently serving as a Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT, she channels her passion for human rights into meaningful work. Throughout her career, Winnie has accumulated significant experience practicing human rights law across various courts in the country. Furthermore, holding certification as a mediator, she is proficient in alternative dispute resolution techniques. Winnie's approach combines her legal expertise with mediation skills to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. She is deeply committed to finding creative, fair, and effective solutions, delivering the highest quality of legal service, research, and advice. Outside of work, Winnie enjoys baking, hiking, and watching documentaries. Her hobbies provide her with relaxation and inspiration, enriching her perspective and fueling her dedication to her professional endeavors. Winnie's work is driven by a fervent belief in justice and equality.

Sonya

I’m Sonya, a learning technologist who’s worked in UK Higher Education since 2008, coming to the profession via technical support roles in other public sector areas. Since 2014 I’ve been with the University of Sunderland’s CELT, responsible for managing a team of content developers and teaching on our PG Cert HE. Born in the US and living in the UK, Jess (she/her) is a Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT. She has a BA in International Studies with a focus on global health and human rights as well as an MA in Human Rights with a focus in bioterrorism. Professionally, she enjoys learning about different cultures, studying different diseases, and learning how to help communities around the world. In her spare time, she enjoys playing video games, reading, and spending time outside. She describes herself as a cisgendered woman and speaks English (native) and French (intermediate).

Becca
United Kingdom
Becca (she/her) is a Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT. She has ten years experience working and volunteering in the social sector and brings strong foundational knowledge in strengthening civil society and social movements to the organisation. She has an MA in Social Anthropology, a postgraduate diploma in Social Innovation Management and an LLM in Transitional Justice and Conflict where she was awarded the Deans Prize in honour of Professor Chandra Sriram. She has written for other charitable organisations, particularly on women's rights and access to just treatment. She enjoys drawing, walking and music.

Gustavo
Colombia
Gustavo Hernández-Calderón (he/him) is a Colombian-German researcher specialising in sexual and gender minorities in the global south. He is currently completing his MA in Global Studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany), where he is conducting research on FLINTA migrant sex workers in Bangkok, Thailand. His previous research includes the analysis of the vulnerability of the LGBTIQA+ population in Argentina, Colombia, Thailand, Cyprus and Nigeria. His publications include In Stuttgart's palace gardens: the intersection of two marginalities, an article written for the book Vom Scheitern, Zweifeln und Ändern, kritische Reflexionen von Männlichkeiten, published in 2021; and also articles such as trans rights targeted during the rise of right-wing populism in Argentina. Gustavo is especially interested in future research on non-binary gender constructions prior to European colonisation and their process of resistance up to the present day. He also likes watermelons and mangoes.
Rodrigo
Brazil
Rodrigo Tadeu Guimarães Jales is an international law specialist and human rights advocate from Brazil. He holds a Master’s in International Law from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and has a diverse academic background, including studies at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne and the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, where his research focused on the impacts of Brexit on free movement. Rodrigo has extensive experience in global governance and racial justice, having worked with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and contributed to international research networks. He has been actively involved in non-profit organisations advocating for the rights of LGBTQIA+ and Afro-descendant communities, including leading the "Iluminados Project," which provides educational and psychological support to underserved youth in Brazil. His passion for intersectional human rights drives his efforts to dismantle systemic inequalities through research, advocacy, and education. Fluent in multiple languages, Rodrigo has facilitated impactful discussions on racism and LGBTQIA+ inclusion in academic and non-profit settings. Currently, he is a Global Campaigns Officer at ReportOUT, where he develops strategies to amplify the voices of sexual and gender minorities worldwide.

Moka
Egypt
Moka (He/They) is a global campaigns officer at ReportOut. Born and raised in Egypt and lived there almost all of his life, he now lives between Cairo and Lisbon, Portugal. Moka has a bachelor's degree in English, which reflects his huge interest in languages and in becoming a polyglot, and a Master's degree in Human Rights and Intercultural Heritage from the University of Bologna with a background in working in project management, career coaching, and as a facilitator in mental health and sex education. Moka enjoys going to the cinema, walking and cycling in nature, and the occasional joy of cooking food with plenty of spices and herbs.

Obinna
Nigeria
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, and still living there, Obinna Tony-Francis Ochem (He/Him) is a Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT. After completing his undergraduate degree in Marine Sciences (Fisheries major) and interning at the Environmental section of the Nigerian Ports Authority, he is now a freelance journalist and writer, exploring the subject of gender, sexuality, climate change, the intersection of queer identities and, in fiction / fantasy literature, ‘shapeshifting’ monsters. Obinna hopes to get an MFA in creative writing in a top USA or Canadian university, exploring non-fiction as a core storytelling avenue. Obinna is an LGBTQI+ activist and advocate and is trained on programmes, and fellowships on writing, SRHR, LGBTQ+ identities, both physical and virtual. He has been published or forthcoming in several media, such as Nairametric as a Thomson Reuters Wealth of Nation fellow and several others. He describes himself as a ‘cisgender queer male’ because, in Anglophone African countries, ‘queer’ is not used as a slur whereas ‘gay’ is. He speaks English and the Nigerian language Igbo.

Henry
Cameroon
Henry Wackam (He/Him) is a human rights advocate from Cameroon and now residing in South Africa Fluent in both French and English, Henry leverages his lived experience as an LGBTQI+ asylum seeker to champion the rights of marginalised communities, particularly LGBTQI+ displaced individuals in South Africa. He has held leadership roles, including as the Founding Director of Rainbow Refuge Africa and Head of Advocacy for LGBTQI+ displaced persons with diplomatic Missions in South Africa. Henry is passionate about education and is eager to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with UNISA in South Africa. Committed to creating inclusive and equitable communities, he specialises in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and community development, working tirelessly to promote dignity and justice for all.

Helmut
Italy
Dr Helmut De Nardi (He/Him, They/Them) is a social sciences scholar and archaeologist with a focus on spatial justice, inclusive cultural citizenship and the universal right to education. They have published widely in the area of disruptive cultural heritage, counter-mapping and post-conflict reconciliation. Helmut is working on establishing their own organisation dedicated to harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence to serve the educational and training needs of the most vulnerable LGBTQIA+ communities and women in developing economies including social contexts that threaten their right to active citizenship and empowerment and justice for all.

Kyriakos
Greece
Kyriakos Lefkopoulos (He/Him) is a Junior Human Rights Specialist with ReportOUT. Born in Greece and passionate about diversity and inclusion, Kyriakos has extensive experience in international and European affairs, human rights and asylum advocacy. He has a Bachelor’s degree in International and European Studies and has worked on projects addressing refugee rights, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and intersectionality. Kyriakos has contributed to high-profile organisations such as the aditus foundation and Thessaloniki Pride, where his work included research, policy advocacy, and conference coordination. Beyond his professional life, Kyriakos enjoys volunteering and engaging in creative community projects. He speaks Greek (native), English (full professional), and Spanish (professional working).

Brogan
Ireland
Born in Ireland and living in Spain, Brogan Gallagher (She/Her) is a Global Campaigns Officer at ReportOUT. She has a BA in Sociology & International Development, an MA in Sociology, and recently completed a PhD in Sociology. Her academic research has focused primarily on gender-based violence, specifically through a social movement perspective. Her PhD thesis, A Tale of Two Sisters, explored the influence of feminist social movement organisations, Ni Una Menos (Argentina) and ROSA (Ireland), on policy related to gender-based violence in these countries. As well as this, Brogan is an experienced educator, having worked as a Tutor in the Sociology Department at Maynooth University (Ireland) for over five years and as an Assistant Lecturer for one semester. She enjoys travelling, cooking, going to the cinema, and attending festivals. She describes herself as a cisgender female, speaks English (native), and is currently improving her Spanish (elementary).

Chloe
United Kingdom
Born and raised in the UK, Chloe (She/ Her) is a Researcher in Conservation and Human Rights, with an MSc in International Development Research and a BSc in Geography and Global Development. Her experience is predominantly at the intersection of environmental issues and human rights, with a focus on indigenous communities and community-based conservation in South East Asia. Chloe has specific experience working across various gender concerns, covering women’s rights in the mining sector, community empowerment, climate justice, gender training and gender equality and education. Her work is driven by a deep passion for fostering sustainable and just futures through community-led research and justice and is supported by strong feminist, intersectional and decolonial values. Chloe has joined ReportOUT as a Human Rights Researcher and is looking forward to helping ReportOUT advance global LGBTQ+ rights and defend sexual and gender minorities. Outside of work and volunteering, you will find Chloe in the great outdoors either running, biking, climbing or swimming. Chloe speaks English (native), Tagalog (Intermediate) and Spanish (Beginner).

Bharti
India
Bharti Upparu (She/Her) is a Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT and a psychologist specialising in cognition and behavioural science. She holds a Master's in Psychology and has worked extensively at the intersection of mental health, youth advocacy, and policy research. Bharti has led youth-centric discussions on mental health policies, reviewed educational resources and contributed to policy advocacy. She also co-founded an online community to improve awareness on sexual and reproductive human rights (SRHR) access and make consent more accessible for young people. Her work is driven by a passion for inclusivity, intersectionality, and fostering informed decision-making through research and activism.
